I struggled to find some way into the subject matter as I have no real experience to align with the plight of a refugee. Where I thought I could contribute was around the idea of home as not only a physical but mental space. I’ve thought a lot about how a childhood home can almost be a metaphorical blueprint for a growing mind. To be torn away from that place must be incredibly disorientating and confusing for a child so I wanted to try and capture that in this piece.
